Parents & Students, please do your research before you choose a school.

Here is a copy of an article that ran in the The Sun Newspaper on July 7th of 2003.

What to look for in a commercial driving school
Trying to choose a commercial driving school for your child? The state Department of Licensing offers these tips:
  • Ask other parents and their children about their experience with the schools in your area.
  • Ask to see and then compare the required Traffic Safety course curricula with the school's course plan or outline. The TSE course curriculum sets the minimum standard for all schools. A better school will exceed the minimum standards.
  • Ask the school's employees to tell you what makes their course the right one for your child. Their answers should emphasize the training and experience of the instructors, time spent in the classroom, and the time your child will spend driving and observing other drivers.
  • Look at the cost of the course. If there is a significant difference in the price you will pay, ask for an explanation of what your money will buy and compare the programs of the different schools. This course is an investment, not just your child's education but also in his or her safety, and in the safety of everyone who rides with your child in the future.
  • Visit the school and ask to see the classroom and vehicle used for training. Does it compare favorably with your own thoughts on the environment in which you want your child learning to drive?
  • Ask to observe a class.
  • Check the DOL Web site at "Department of Licensing Query System" to see if an instructor's license has been suspended.

This includes us here at northwest driving school, inc. We want your student to have the best possible education on this very important topic.

  • Ask the school if you can sit in on a class before you choose to enroll your student with that school. We welcome parents to any class for any length of time and offer an informative Parent’s Night during the course as well. We find this helpful to discuss our teaching techniques and hints on getting in the car with your teen.
  • We have our curriculum, course outline and flow chart clearly posted on both of our classroom walls and are more than happy to provide a copy of our school’s flow chart upon request.
  • Every session your student is with us they will have homework and a quiz. All quizzes must be passed and homework must be turned in completed.
  • Our fleet of cars include four 2006 Scion XB's, a 2001 Ford Focus, 2002 Ford Taurus, and 2 - 2003 Chevrolet Malibu's.
  • Payment plan is listed on the application. We do have other payment options available, please give us a call.

Daily tips for safe driving...
Make sure your windshield is clean. At sun rise and sun set, light reflecting off your dirty windshield can momentarily blind you from seeing what's going on.
